“Dr. Shirin Hirsch is a postdoctoral research fellow in History at the University of Wolverhampton. She is currently completing a book on Enoch Powell, race and resistance which will be published by Manchester University Press in 2018. In this special Black History Month Lecture, she will look beyond the headlines at Powell’s relationship with the city he made infamous.
The Event will begin with a talk on race equality today by Eleanor Smith, Labour Member of Parliament for Wolverhampton South West. Eleanor Smith was elected in the 2017 general election, becoming the West Midlands’ first ever Afro Caribbean MP after winning the seat once held by the Conservative MP Enoch Powell"
